Firefighters from BRIFOR, the Forestry Brigade of the Cabildo de Tenerife, rescued two small puppies yesterday afternoon (Thursday) that they found abandoned in the area of the fire they were working on.
The troops themselves shared the images of the two young dogs on social media, which they have named ‘Arafo’ and ‘Candelaria’ after the names of the towns where the fire started ten days ago.
They reported that the puppies are safe well as they took them to a vet to get them checked over, but they don't have a permanent home and are currently being cared for in a foster home.
The fire is currently in the ‘stabilization’ phase, with a lot of work ahead until it is considered extinguished, but this has allowed the return of the evacuated residents and also their pets, which numbered more than 450 animals in temporary shelters.
