The organiser of an illegal party held at La Caleta Beach in CostaAdeje, south Tenerife, is set to face a minimum €6,000 fine, with the possibility of additional penalties under the Citizen Security Law that could reach anywhere up to €600,000, according to the Tenerife Cabildo.
Pedro Millán, the Island Director for Natural Environment, confirmed on Friday that a sanctioning process has already been launched against the event organiser for holding a party in a protected natural area.
The initial fine is set at €6,000, but further sanctions could be imposed depending on the severity of the offence.
Potential Additional Fines
Millán explained that this fine is separate from any penalties that may be issued under the Citizen Security Law, where violations can result in fines ranging from €601 to €600,000, depending on the seriousness of the case.
Authorities took swift action upon learning about the party. The Guardia Civil and the Adeje Local Police were informed immediately, deploying six patrol units to identify the organisers and take the necessary legal measures.
Authorities Respond to Public Criticism
Millán also addressed criticism on social media and in the press, stressing that authorities acted promptly and decisively. He warned against spreading misleading information, stating:
"It is irresponsible to suggest that public authorities did nothing. Both the Guardia Civil and the Local Police responded immediately. Doubting their professionalism is both unfair and incorrect."
Increase in Environmental Violations
The Tenerife Cabildo also reported a significant rise in environmental violations. In 2024, when 906 environmental offences were recorded, a 37.8% increase compared to the previous year.
Of these, 612 cases fell under the jurisdiction of the Cabildo, while 294 were forwarded to other regulatory bodies, such as:
The authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to enforcing environmental laws and preventing similar unauthorised events in protected areas.
