A dead body has been discovered this morning (Sunday) on wasteland in Los Abrigos, located in the south of Tenerife. The Guardia Civil has confirmed the recovery of the remains but has not disclosed the identity of the deceased, citing data protection regulations.
Local residents and neighbours have speculated on social media that the body may belong to a woman known as Carmen, who was frequently seen in the area.
She was described as an introverted individual who wandered through various parts of Granadilla de Abona and, reportedly, suffered from a mental health condition.
According to posts in the Facebook group El Médano, Carmen was well known in the community, often seen with one or more dogs. Locals also noted that she did not accept food or money from others.
The discovery has sparked debate among residents, with some expressing concerns that she did not receive adequate psychosocial support from the relevant authorities, despite being a familiar figure in the area.
At present, the cause of death remains unknown, and investigations by the Guardia Civil are ongoing pending an autopsy and official identification of the body.
