Man arrested for robbing holidaymaker’s hotel rooms in Caleta del Fuste

The Guardia Civil have arrested a 40-year-old man in Fuerteventura for multiple offences, breaking into hotel rooms and burgling holidaymakers at various complexes on the island.

According to the police report, the burglaries took place in January in several hotels in Caleta de Fuste, where the suspect was charged with one count of robbery with force, two counts of theft, and eight counts of fraudulent credit card use.

The suspect broke to hotel rooms, either by climbing onto balconies or taking advantage of terrace doors left open by guests. The stolen items included personal belongings, electronic devices, and cash, with an estimated total value of €4,140.

Investigation and Arrest

The Guardia Civil focused its investigation on CCTV footage from one of the targeted hotels, which captured the suspect leaving a guest’s room carrying victim’s belongings.

Additionally, the fraudulent use of a stolen credit card helped track him, as transactions were linked to security footage from several shops in the area.

With this evidence, the suspect was fully identified and subsequently arrested on 5th February in Puerto del Rosario.

The man was brought before Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 4 in Puerto del Rosario, where he was released with charges pending further legal proceedings.
