The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has updated its weather forecast for the Canary Islands for today, Tuesday 11th February, as scattered showers are expected across the region, along with frost and some ice in the central peaks of Tenerife.
In the more mountainous islands of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, La Palma, El Hierro, and La Gomera, cloud cover is expected, particularly in the northern areas during the early hours. As the day progresses, clouds will spread inland, with rain showers anticipated this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will experience mostly clear skies, though a light haze (calima) will still be present, particularly at mid-altitudes. This haze will also affect parts of Gran Canaria.
Temperatures and Wind Conditions
Temperatures will remain stable, with maximums reaching 21°C and minimums around 15°C.
Winds will be light from the northeast, becoming stronger along the southeastern and northwestern slopes later in the day.
Anyone thinking of heading to higher altitudes in Tenerife, are advised to prepare for colder conditions due to the expected frost.
