Man wanted for illegal street gambling arrested in Mogan

A 64-year-old man, with an active arrest warrant against him, was arrested by the Local Police in Gran Canaria on Friday, 7th February, at a beachfront café in Mogán.

The warrant, issued by the Court of Instruction Number 1 of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, called for his search, immediate detention, and appearance in court.

The man was in the café with three other people when he was identified by plain clothes officers who were patrolling the area.

According to a statement from the Mogán Council, the officers immediately recognised the suspect due to prior encounters related to fraudulent street gambling, involving three playing cards commonly known as "three card monte", which targets holidaymakers to take their money.

Following his arrest, the man was taken to municipal police headquarters for processing, after which he was transferred to the main Guardia Civil station in Puerto Rico for further legal proceedings.
