A female hiker was rescued by helicopter yesterday (Monday) after sustaining a moderate leg injury while trekking in the Teide National Park in Tenerife.
The incident occurred at 11:20am, which is when the Canary Islands' Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) received an alert reporting that a hiker had suffered a leg injury and need assistance as she was unable to continue her journey.
Emergency response teams, including the Emergency Immediate Response Team (ERIE) of the Red Cross, were mobilised by the fire brigade to reach the injured woman and provide initial assistance.
Meanwhile, rescue personnel from the GES helicopter descended from the aircraft to carry out the evacuation, with the support of the Red Cross staff.
Once stabilised, the injured hiker was airlifted to the helipad in La Guancha, where SUC medical personnel continued treatment before transferring her to the Emergency Department at Hospital del Norte for further treatment.
