Microsoft and Amazon have confirmed their participation in the first Canary Islands Digital Internationalisation Congress, set to take place on 1st April in Tenerife.
The event, hosted by the Tenerife Cabildo’s Departments of Tourism, Foreign Affairs, and Institutional Relations, aims to educate export businesses on how to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into their daily operations.
During a press conference, Lope Afonso, Vice President and Minister for Tourism for the Cabildo, and Santiago Sesé, President of the Chamber of Commerce, outlined the foreign trade support programmes that will be rolled out this year.
They were joined by Pedro González, Director of Foreign Affairs for the Island Council, and Arturo Escuder, President of the Foreign Trade Commission of the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The congress forms part of the Export Lab project, an initiative designed to enhance the competitiveness of exporting companies through the integration of competitive intelligence, artificial intelligence, and automation into business processes.
Now in its second edition, the programme will expand to include a new introductory track for emerging companies alongside a continuation track for the 20 businesses that participated in 2024.
Businesses in Tenerife will also benefit from €200,000 in funding through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), managed by the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
These grants will support participation in twelve trade fairs and business missions in 2025, as well as facilitate applications to the Xpande Digital programme, which promotes international digital expansion.
