A boat with 191 people on board arrived at the port of Granadilla in the south of Tenerife this morning (Sunday), among them one deceased who had died during the crossing from West Africa according to news agency EFE via CECOES.
The Emergency Services confirmed that the boat arrived at the port of Granadilla under its own means just before 8 o’clock this morning, and was met by members of the Red Cross, SUC medical personnel, the Guardia Civil, and the Local Police.
They made sure that the 137 men, 2 women, and 51 minors (under 18s) were hydrated and had their health checked, with three of them needing to go to hospital for further treatment for heat stroke and dehydration.
The body of the deceased was removed from the boat and taken for official identification and autopsy to determine the cause of death.
