Yellow weather warnings in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura for this weekend

The weekend weather forecast from the Met Office for Lanzarote and Fuerteventura predicts a deterioration in the conditions, with strong winds and calima expected to impact the islands.

Strong winds and a hazy atmosphere will characterize the prevalent weather pattern for the weekend, as a potent wind blows in from the Sahara Desert bringing dust and sand particles suspended in the air.

According to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), wind speeds of up to 70 km/h are anticipated, with southeast gusts affecting primarily the western slopes of the two islands. Locally, gusts reaching 80 km/h cannot be ruled out.

Caution is strongly advised, especially in the northern, southern, and western coastal areas of the islands. However, the impact of the wind will be felt island-wide. Residents and visitors are urged to exercise extra caution and stay informed about the evolving weather conditions throughout the weekend.
