The Spanish National Lottery draw held on Thursday, 14th August, proved to be especially lucky for the Canary Islands, with prizes from both the first and second categories landing across three islands.
The results sparked widespread excitement as celebrations broke out in neighbourhoods from Tenerife to Gran Canaria and Lanzarote.
First Prize in Tenerife and Gran Canaria
The first prize, worth €300,000 per ticket in the set of ten, went to number 25,044. In Tenerife, it was sold in Santa Cruz, at the lottery outlet on Calle José Hernández Afonso, 14. Meanwhile, in Gran Canaria, another winning ticket was validated at an administration in Lomo Los Perales, bringing joy to locals who gathered to celebrate their stroke of fortune.
This winning number wasn’t exclusive to the Canary Islands. Tickets of the same series were also sold in Barcelona, Jaén, Seville, Badajoz, Albacete, Alicante, Valencia, Valladolid and A Coruña, spreading luck across Spain.
Second Prize in Lanzarote
The second prize, awarded to number 42.795, also touched down in the islands. In Lanzarote, it was sold at a lottery office on Calle Tajaraste in the Argana Alta neighbourhood of Arrecife. Once again, the Canary Islands shared the spotlight with other lucky regions including Granada, Albacete, Alicante, Cáceres, Lleida, Seville, Valencia, and Valladolid.
A Lucky Day for La Primitiva Too
The winning streak didn’t stop there. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a player scooped €40,692.78 in La Primitiva lottery after matching five numbers plus the complementary number. The winning ticket was validated at the La Ballena Shopping Centre.
The winning combination was 7, 11, 12, 16, 36, 43, with complementary number 25 and the reintegro (refund number) 2.
The Canary Islands: A Hotspot for Luck
This double dose of good fortune once again reinforces the Canary Islands’ reputation for being a lucky spot in Spanish lotteries. Beyond the immediate financial impact, wins of this kind always bring a sense of celebration to local communities, whether in small neighbourhood outlets or busy city-centre kiosks.
For residents and visitors alike, the excitement of lottery draws in Spain remains part of the cultural fabric, an everyday tradition with the power to transform lives in an instant.
