The Lanzarote Emergency and Security Consortium has reported an accident that took place yesterday, Thursday 14th August, at around 4:30pm, on the LZ-67 road within the Timanfaya National Park in Yaiza.

According to the report, the incident involved a van that overturned and came to rest on its roof. At the time of the accident, the driver was trapped inside, suspended by his seatbelt.

Emergency teams from both the Central and Southern fire stations attended the scene. Firefighters placed a neck brace on the injured man, assessed his condition, and carefully released him from the vehicle using a spinal board.

He was then transferred onto a stretcher and taken to a waiting ambulance, and taken to Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife for further treatment.

Meanwhile, staff from the National Park helped to direct traffic until the Guardia Civil arrived. The Guardia Civil later assumed responsibility for regulating traffic flow and compiling the official accident report.

The cause of the accident has not yet been disclosed.
