26-year-old killed in motorbike accident in Lanzarote

A 26-year-old man has died and another young man is in a critical condition following a motorcycle accident in Arrecife on Thursday night. The incident happened at 11:32 pm on Calle Río Grande, when two men lost control of the motorbike they were riding and were thrown from the vehicle.

Emergency services were alerted and immediately dispatched a medicalised ambulance, two basic life support ambulances, as well as units from the Local Police and National Police.

On arrival, paramedics confirmed the death of the 26-year-old rider at the scene. His companion, aged 21, sustained multiple serious injuries and was rushed to Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in critical condition.

Local Police officers managed traffic in the area and began an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

Firefighters also attended the scene to secure a nearby premises after the impact of the motorbike broke one of its windows, covering it with a metal panel to prevent further damage.

The full circumstances of the accident remain under investigation.
