In a tragic incident, a dead body has been found on the cliffs of Puerto Calero, in the municipality of Yaiza (Lanzarote), as reported by the 112 emergency services.
The body was discovered at approximately 12:25pm triggering an immediate emergency response involving the fire brigade, ambulances, the Guardia Civil, the Local Police, and GES helicopter.
The helicopter crew successfully retrieved the body, which was in an area difficult to access by land, and flew it to Lanzarote Airport, where the Guardia Civil were waiting to take responsibility for it whilst the necessary legal proceedings were initiated.
An investigation has now been opened to determine the circumstances leading up to the discovery, including waiting for an autopsy to determine the cause of death and their identification.
