Primark have announced the official time and date for the opening of their brand new store in the CC Open Mall shopping centre in Arrecife, 9.30am on Thursday morning, 22nd June.
Thousands of residents in Lanzarote have been waiting eagerly for this day to come, and now there’s not long to wait for the most anticipated opening of any new store on the island.
Primark have been training and preparing its workers for over a month, and have hired more security for the first few days of opening as they are expecting a high influx of shoppers and want to prevent any adverse incidents from happening.
Primark was founded in 1969 by Arthur Ryan, who, under the name of Penneys, opened a single store on Mary Street in Dublin, with the aim of offering high fashion at affordable prices.
Fifty years later it is an international chain with 72,000 employees in more than 400 stores in 15 countries, still based on the same fundamentals: affordable prices for everyone on a day-to-day basis.
“While we remain firmly rooted in our Irish roots, Primark is already established across the UK and continental Europe, expanding into Central and Eastern Europe, and making its way into the US. We perceive growth opportunities in all our markets and we hope to reach 530 stores by the end of 2026”, they say on their business website.
A spokesperson in Lanzarote said: “Affordable prices have always been at the heart of Primark. Our current vision is to ensure that everyone can afford a more sustainable fashion here on the island”.
