Chaos as flight from Manchester to Lanzarote is diverted to Tenerife and then Benidorm

There was chaos for passengers onboard a Jet2 flight from Manchester to Lanzarote on Saturday (October 21st), which turned into a genuine ordeal for passengers.

The plane was diverted from Lanzarote to Tenerife South Airport due to unfavourable weather conditions, meaning it couldn’t land at its intended destination.

Passengers were initially instructed to stay on the plane and wait for around 30 minutes on the tarmac before disembarking, however, they were then informed that they couldn’t stay in Tenerife and had to fly three hours to Alicante to spend the night there.

Disgruntled passengers took to social media to describe the situation as “ludicrous” and said they felt like “prisoners” as they weren’t allowed to disembark in Tenerife.

After the short stop, they finally reached Alicante airport on the Spanish mainland where they then had to wait for their luggage for 40 minutes before travelling to Benidorm to spend the night there in accommodation provided by the airline.

After more than 24 hours since they left Manchester, their ordeal finally came to an end at 7:30pm on Sunday when the plane departed from Alicante to Lanzarote where they were able to land this time and finally start their holidays.
