The dead body of a man, whose age and identity are unknown, was discovered yesterday, Sunday, by a hiker in the Los Ancones area of the Teguise coast in Lanzarote.
The Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) received a call from a woman reporting the discovery at around 4:45pm, and dispatched the necessary resources to the location given.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been established, but it has been reported that he appeared to be between 30 and 35 years old and had South American characteristics.
The Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium has informed that the investigation into the case will be carried out by the Judicial Unit of the Guardia Civil, to determine the circumstances of the man’s death, including possible signs of violence or drowning.
The body has now been retrieved and taken for an autopsy so that he can be officially identified and to determine the cause of death.
