Two cars pulled from the sea after they ‘slid’ down ramps

Two cars were retrieved from the sea yesterday (Friday) after ‘sliding’ down ramps in two separate incidents in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura on Thursday night.

The car in Lanzarote ended up three metres deep in the sea after the driver left the car on the La Marina ramp without putting the handbrake to "go get a bucket of water to parboil some shellfish."

However, gravity did the rest and the emergency services had to wait until the tide had gone out until they could winch it out of the sea. Without a doubt, it’s an expensive plate of seafood for the owner.

The other vehicle slid down a ramp at Tarajalejo, in the municipality of Tuineje, ‘pulled’ into the water by the trailer it had on the back.

According to the emergency services, who managed to pull the car from the water, the vehicle is in good condition taking into account it has been submerged in salt water.
