The worst of the strong easterly winds are forecast to start today (Tuesday) as the calima warning has been extended to all of the Canary Islands, but it has already caused disruptions in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

There have been aborted landings and missed approaches at the César Manrique airport in Lanzarote, and diversions to Fuerteventura increasing air traffic and causing delays.

The air traffic controllers have tweeted on their official Twitter account warning of "reduced visibility problems due to the presence of a calima at the Lanzarote airport, causing delays, frustration, and diversions to alternative airports”.

As you can see this is in stark contrast to Tenerife where rain, electrical storms, and snow have been prevalent, but the General Directorate of Emergencies for the Canary Islands Government warns that the weather fronts are going to meet today with unpredictable results and possibly more flight complications.

At the time of publication, there have been no delays, diversions, or flights cancelled at Tenerife South or Gran Canaria's Las Palmas airports due to the weather.
