In a bizarre turn of events, a tourist who booked a 'shared room' in an urban coworking space for 25 euros per night via Airbnb found himself in a bewildering situation upon arrival. Instead of the expected accommodation, he was met with a commercial space filled with camping tents.
The protagonist of this peculiar tale, which unfolded in Arrecife (Lanzarote), reported the incident to the local media outlet, Biosfera Digital.
Two signs welcomed visitors at the entrance of the establishment, one in English and the other in Spanish. Both urged the 'tenants' not to "provide explanations to neighbours and outsiders about this coworking space. The neighbours don't want tourists. Do not let them enter the premises; they are not friends."
Furthermore, the affected tourist revealed that "The reservation shows an address, which later turns out to be a different one, just to add confusion."
The bewildering experience raises questions about the accuracy and transparency of the Airbnb listing, leaving the traveller undoubtedly astonished by the unexpected scenario.
