VIDEO: Lanzarote locals angry after man spotted cycling naked around island

Residents and locals in Lanzarote have become angered by a male tourist who was spotted cycling around the island naked apart from a hat and a bumbag. The middle-aged man, identified as a holidaymaker by his lack of tan, was filmed pedalling in the nude at around 6pm on Saturday by a petrol station on the road to the village of Guatiza in the north-east of the island.

Although many people believe the UK press when they claim the Canary Islands doesn’t want tourists, they really do, although they’d also like a little bit of respect from people that visit the archipelago too.

A woman filming the unexpected scene from a car coming up behind the cyclist said: “Just when you think you have seen everything. I can't believe it. Children shouldn’t have to see things like this” Another woman alongside her in the car said: “Really, mate! What on earth is this?”

The unidentified man appeared to only be wearing a hat and a bumbag around his waist, presumably for his valuables as he had no pockets to put them in.

With so many incidents involving drunken behaviour on planes and rowdy incidents in hotels and resorts, it’s no wonder that not only residents, but other holidaymakers, are getting frustrated and angry by a small number of people who believe they can do whatever they want because they’re “on holiday”.

Locals are worried that tourism is interfering with residential life and that the worse is yet to come.

Milagros Alvarez shot the cyclist down by commenting on social media: “Why does all the s**t end up here. I'm sure that if he was in his own country he wouldn't be doing

this sort of thing because he would know he wouldn't get away with it”, another added: “Lanzarote is out of control and no-one is doing anything about it.”

However, some tried to see the funny side, Laura Gomez from Tenerife joked: “Not even a bottle of Talcum powder could prevent his saddle sores.”
