The General Corps of the Canarian Police apprehended a British resident of Tenerife on Tuesday, caught carrying 211 grams of marijuana hidden in the spare wheel compartment of his car.
He was stopped at a random checkpoint in Playa de la Arena, in the municipality of Santiago del Teide, and officers noticed that he was acting suspiciously when they asked for his identification and vehicle documents.
Because of this they decided to do a thorough search of the vehicle, during which they found the narcotics concealed in a plastic bag with the spare wheel.
The man was taken into custody before being handed over to the Guardia Civil where he is waiting to appear in front of the judicial authority. The confiscated drugs are currently held in police custody pending transfer to the appropriate laboratory for analysis.
