Is Roaming Free in Europe?
If you are travelling within the European Union (EU) and associated countries, your mobile tariff will not incur extra charges for calls, messages, or data usage. For instance, if you are in France, you can call Spain, France, or Italy using your domestic tariff allowance, subject to the fair usage policy.
However, the number of gigabytes of data available under your plan may vary slightly. This is because the EU regulates roaming costs and allows operators to set a data limit based on the price per Gb. In this case, the cost matches the EU-regulated price, meaning the limit must be applied. It is advisable to check the specific Gb allowance for your tariff and how this limit is calculated.
However, some European countries are still not part of the roaming agreement, meaning additional charges will apply. Use the country search tool on your provider’s website to check the conditions for your destination.
Calling Internationally from Spain
If you are calling from Spain to any international destination, international call rates will apply, as these are not covered under the EU roaming agreement.
Travelling Outside the EU and Associated Countries?
For destinations outside the European Union, including the UK, it is strongly recommended to check your provider's country search tool for specific roaming charges.
In these cases, deactivating mobile data roaming is advised to avoid unexpected charges on your bill, and for further details, refer to your mobile network provider’s terms and conditions for roaming services.
