Lanzarote firefighters tackle three fires in separate incidents early Friday morning

Three separate fires broke out in the early hours of this morning (Friday) in Lanzarote, prompting swift responses from the emergency services. Firefighters successfully brought all incidents under control, although damage was reported in each case.

The first fire broke out at around 5:30am on Calle Juan Negrín in Arrecife, where several waste containers caught fire. Local police were first on the scene and took immediate action to separate the containers in order to prevent the flames from spreading further.

Despite their efforts, three of the containers were seriously damaged and were left unusable. Firefighters arrived shortly after to fully extinguish the flames.

While still attending to the scene in Arrecife, the emergency services were alerted to a second fire involving another waste container, this time on Calle Francos. Firefighters and Local Police quickly responded, finding the container already engulfed in flames. The fire was quickly extinguished, and once the area was confirmed safe, traffic was allowed to resume in the vicinity.

A third and more serious incident was reported at approximately 6:20am on Calle Las Acacias in Costa Teguise. Firefighters arrived to find black smoke pouring from a closed commercial premises, and gained entry by breaking through a metal door, t

Inside, they discovered a fire which had already caused significant smoke and heat damage. After extinguishing the blaze, they ventilated the building and removed damaged display units and other burnt materials.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the causes of the fires, and investigations are likely to follow.
