Man stabbed in the leg following traffic dispute in Gran Canaria

A traffic incident escalated into violence on Tuesday evening in Las Palmas (Gran Canaria), resulting in a man being stabbed in the leg during an altercation involving five people. The confrontation occurred at approximately 10:00pm on Calle Betania in the Lomo Los Frailes neighbourhood.

The incident began when a man riding an electric scooter allegedly didn't stop at a junction and hit a car driven by a woman. Following the collision, the woman attempted to speak with the scooter rider to assess the damage, but a brief argument ensued, and he rode off.

Determined to hold him accountable, the woman followed him to a nearby apartment where he went inside. Following this, she alerted her husband, who soon arrived and knocked on the door in an effort to confront the man. However, when the scooter rider eventually emerged, he launched an attack on the husband.

The situation quickly escalated when three of the scooter rider’s acquaintances joined the confrontation. Together, they knocked the husband to the ground, repeatedly kicking and punching him. During the assault, one of the attackers produced a knife and stabbed the man in the leg. After the attack, the group fled the scene in a car.

Neighbours alerted the emergency services, and the National Police are now leading the investigation. Officers are working to identify and locate the four attackers. The authorities have confirmed that the injured man’s condition is not considered serious.

The incident has raised concerns about road safety and violent escalations following traffic disputes, prompting calls for calm and cooperation in such situations.
