Joy and celebration have swept through the south of Tenerife following the results of Thursday’s National Lottery draw, which saw two first-prize winning tickets on the island, according to Loterías y Apuestas del Estado.
The winning number, 84961, comes with a prize of €30,000 per décimo (10th of a ticket), while the second prize, associated with number 80219, is worth €6,000.
The two first-prize tickets sold in Tenerife were purchased at two locations in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona. One was sold at a petrol station located at kilometre 54 on the TF-1 motorway, and the other at Avenida de Los Abrigos, number 7, in the Edificio Kumun.
In addition to Tenerife, the first-prize number was also sold in Granada, Navarra, and Córdoba. Meanwhile, the second-prize ticket was sold in Barcelona.
How the National Lottery Works
The Spanish National Lottery, a beloved tradition across the country, allows players to participate in various weekly draws. To enter, participants choose a five-digit number known as a décimo. This can be selected manually or generated randomly, with the option to leave certain digits to chance using asterisks. Players also decide how many décimos to purchase, ranging from one to ten per chosen number.
While traditional paper décimos are only available at official Lottery Administrations, players can also take part online using virtual décimos. These digital entries offer the same odds and prize opportunities. The only difference lies in the claiming process: paper ticket holders must present the physical décimo to collect their winnings, while prizes from online entries are credited automatically to the player’s account.
The cost of a décimo depends on the specific draw:
Prize structures in the National Lottery go beyond just the top-tier wins. In addition to the first and second prizes, players can win through various categories, including numbers ending in certain digits, approximations to the main prizes, and refunds (reintegros), offering multiple chances to walk away with a reward.
