Man dies after choking incident while eating at a restaurant in Lanzarote

The 56-year-old man who was resuscitated by paramedics after a choking incident at a restaurant in Lanzarote on Saturday night, died yesterday (Sunday) despite the efforts of the medical staff, who stabilised him yesterday when they treated him.

The Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) received an alert at 2:45pm on Saturday reporting that a man was in cardiorespiratory arrest after choking while eating in a restaurant, and immediately dispatched the necessary emergency resources to the location given.

Upon arrival, paramedics confirmed that the victim was still in cardiorespiratory arrest and performed advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation manoeuvres, managing to recover his pulse.

Once stabilised, the man was transferred in critical condition to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in a medicalised ambulance, where he was admitted for further treatment.

Unfortunately went back into cardiac arrest yesterday, and this time medical personnel couldn’t revive him and confirmed his death.

According to Lancelot Digital, the funeral chapel is set up at the Tías Funeral Home, and mass will be held this afternoon (Monday 3rd February) at 4:00pm at the Church of San Antonio.
