Applications for grants to help pay for school books and materials are being accepted now

The Department of Education for Adeje have has opened the application period for financial assistance for school materials for the 2024-2025 school year. This support is for families with children in infant, primary and secondary schools in Adeje, and those in intermediate and basic vocational training, and Bachillerato who are registered as residents of the municipality.

With a budget allocation of 100,000 euros, the grants are there "to help ease the financial burden on families when purchasing school supplies at the start of each academic year," explains councillor Coraima Afonso Navarro. The grants also cover the purchase of necessary materials for accessing Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

The guidelines for these grants were approved by the council on 24th February 2023 and were published in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife on 6th March 2023. A subsequent amendment was approved on 17th June this year.

Applicants must have been registered residents of Adeje for at least one year, not hold a qualification equal to or higher than the studies for which they are seeking the grant, and must not have any pending decisions on other grants previously awarded by the council. Additionally, the family's income must not exceed the limits set out in the grant guidelines.

Applicants must also be enrolled in a public educational institution in the specified levels of education on a full-time basis.

All applicants must submit a standard application form, along with a declaration of responsibility, proof of residency, DNI or NIE number, and proof of the family's income, among other documents.

The deadline for submitting applications is 17th September 2024, which is one month after its publication in the Official Bulletin tomorrow (17th August).

The decision on the applications will be made within six months and will be published and posted on the council’s notice board and online on the council’s webpage.

The guidelines for the grant and the specific documentation required can be found on the website www.adeje.es. Applications can be submitted online or in person at the Department of Education, located on the upper floor of the Adeje Cultural Centre
