The storm system known as Garoé, which has caused significant rainfall across the Canary Islands over the last few days, is now subsiding. Currently, only La Palma remains under yellow weather alerts, according to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
La Palma is facing two yellow alerts: one for rough seas with waves reaching up to four metres, and another for heavy rain. Forecasts predict more rain of 15 litres per square metre in an hour or 60 litres per square metre over 12 hours, particularly affecting the northeastern slopes, highland areas, and western and eastern parts of the island.
Although scattered rain showers are expected to continue across the Canary Islands on Friday, they are anticipated to be less intense compared to recent days.
AEMET has clarified that a yellow alert indicates no significant meteorological risk for the general population, but warns of potential hazards for specific activities that could be suspended or cancelled.
As the storm diminishes in strength, people in affected regions are advised to remain cautious, especially in areas under weather warnings.
