A group of Ryanair passengers were left trapped for around 15 minutes at César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport after landing from Madrid on the night of 16th August. The incident happened at approximately 11.10pm when travellers disembarking the aircraft became stuck in the area between the jet bridge and the doors leading to the baggage reclaim hall.

According to eyewitness accounts, some passengers eventually managed to open a door leading to the passport control zone by themselves, while others waited until airport staff arrived to release them.

Airport operator Aena later confirmed that the confusion began when “a passenger pressed the button on a door leading to passport control, which was not the correct route for these travellers.” This mistake led the group into a restricted space with no exit.

Aena added that once staff became aware of the situation, passengers were quickly redirected to the correct area for baggage collection.

Although the incident ended without further problems, it caused concern among passengers, who described the experience as confusing and poorly handled.
