The National Police were called out in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on the morning of 13th August after reports of a woman climbing a high-voltage electricity tower. The alert came through to the emergency centre, warning of a person perched on the structure in Calle Virgen del Pilar, in Las Palmas.

Officers from the Central District police station immediately went to the scene, where they confirmed that a woman had climbed the tower.

A security cordon was set up while police officers carefully approached and spoke with the woman, eventually convincing her to come down safely.

Once on the ground, she was taken to an ambulance and transferred to the Doctor Negrín Hospital for medical assessment, where she was admitted for observation.

In recent years, the Canary Islands have seen several similar emergencies where people have climbed dangerous structures such as bridges, cranes, and towers, often requiring delicate negotiations by the authorities. In most cases, police were able to defuse the situation without injury.

Police confirmed that all procedures related to this case were completed at the National Police station.
