The Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) have reported of an incident involving a 3-year-old-child at a hotel pool in San Miguel de Abona yesterday afternoon (Friday), after they were rescued by the lifeguard at the complex whilst drowning.
CECOES received a call at 4.18pm requesting urgent health care for the child, who had been pulled from the water by the hotel lifeguard, who was giving him CPR to try and revive him.
An ambulance and paramedics were there within minutes and took over from the lifeguard, with basic and advanced CPR techniques, and fortunately managed to revive the child and start him breathing again.
After stabilizing him, medical personnel indicated that it was a serious drowning, and transferred him to Hospiten Sur in Playa Las Americas for routine observation.
The local police took charge of the corresponding proceedings at the hotel and took witness statements to ascertain what had happened.
