A two-year-old girl has tragically died after drowning in a swimming pool at the Los Lagos de Taurito water park in Mogán, Gran Canaria.

The child is believed to have become trapped beneath several inflatable lilos floating in the water, according to a statement from the Canary Islands’ Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).

The incident occurred at around 4:00pm this afternoon (Saturday), when emergency services received an alert reporting that a young girl had been pulled from a pool showing signs of drowning. In response, CECOES immediately dispatched emergency teams to the scene, including paramedics, LOCAL POLICE, firefighters, and a medical helicopter.

Firefighters assisted in securing the area for the safe landing of the air ambulance. Upon arrival, SUC medical personnel found the child in cardiac arrest, and performed both basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) procedures at the site.

Despite extensive efforts to revive her, the medical team could only confirm the girl's death.

Local Police and Civil Protection teams supported the emergency response, while the Guardia Civil took charge of the investigation and completed the official report.
