The Tenerife Cabildo has ordered the reopening of the accesses to the Teide National Park this morning Thursday via the TF-38 from Chío, up to the cable car area.
They have informed via social media, that due to the presence of ice and snow on the road, the accesses via La Orotava and La Esperanza, the TF-21 and TF-24, are still closed.
The drop in temperatures, announced yesterday (Wednesday) by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), has led to Mount Teide being covered in a thin layer of snow this morning.
The forecast placed the snow level at around 1,700 metres, which is why it has been confirmed from the early hours of this morning at the island's peaks. It has also snowed throughout the night in high areas of Gran Canaria and it is not ruled out that it will also do so in the peaks of La Palma, although this is less likely.
