A search is underway for a 61-year-old British tourist who has gone missing in the south of Tenerife, just hours after arriving on the island with his wife.
Michael, who was staying in a holiday apartment in Los Cristianos, was last seen on Sunday morning (15th March). His disappearance has been described by family and friends as “completely out of character”, raising growing concern among those close to him.
Disappeared after morning walk
According to reports, Michael left the apartment between 7:30am and 8:00am with the intention of walking to a nearby shop. He has not been seen or heard from since.
He had arrived in Tenerife the previous evening, making his sudden disappearance particularly unusual.
Description and identifying features
Michael is approximately 1.85 metres tall and was last seen wearing entirely blue clothing. He may have been wearing a blue England rugby or cricket shirt.
A distinctive feature that may help identify him is that he is missing the tip of a finger on his left hand.
No phone or identification
Concerns have increased after it emerged that he was not carrying a mobile phone, a passport, or much money at the time he went missing.
Police have launched standard enquiries, including checks at local hospitals, as the search continues.
Public urged to help
The organisation Missing Persons Tenerife, which is assisting with the search, has issued an appeal for information.
Anyone who may have seen Michael or has any information about his whereabouts is urged to come forward by contacting enquiries@missingpersonstenerife.com.
