Rosa Dávila becomes first female president of Tenerife and immediately addresses traffic jams

Rosa Davila Mamely has been sworn in today (Monday) as the President of the Cabildo de Tenerife for the Canary Islands Coalition (CC), after four years of having Pedro Martín in charge of the institution. Martín won the election on May 28th but did not have the majority of the vote necessary to assume his position, so Davila takes charge after a coalition between the CC and PP parties.

The first thing she announced today is her intention to create a working group with economic and social experts to immediately address ways and introduce measures to alleviate traffic jams on the island.

Talking to journalists after the plenary session in which she was officially installed as the first female leader of Tenerife, she said that there are already measures her team are working on, and that actions are going to be undertaken "immediately, from today, to address the great challenges of the island”.

And one of them is to try to "alleviate the traffic situation, and the queues in the north and south of Tenerife, and for this we are going to get to work immediately to create a working group of experts from all fields to find solutions."

“My objective is to immediately take measures in the next 90 days. This is my personal commitment to the citizens of Tenerife. Measures can be adopted that allow, as far as possible, to alleviate the situation of chaos and traffic collapse on the island.”
