A new project to improve coastal paths in Arona in the south of Tenerife called ‘Camino de la Costa: Los Cristianos – Palm Mar – Las Galletas’ has been approved thanks to a collaboration agreement between the Tenerife Cabildo and the Arona City Council.
The project has an investment of 68,000 euros which is being fully financed by the Cabildo through the Strategic Framework for Island Development (MEDI), with a special focus on the section that connects Palm Mar and Las Galletas passing the Punta de Rasca lighthouse.
This financing is part of the program aimed at improving the island's tourism infrastructure, to optimise the tourist experience as well as protect the landscape, and promoting the economic development of the area.
The agreement between the Council and the Cabildo establishes a maximum execution period of 4 years to carry out the work and projected improvements. It is expected that during this period the necessary interventions will be carried out to improve the path and make 'Camino de la Costa' a proper coastal walkway, providing residents and visitors with a more attractive and complete experience.
The Mayor of Arona, Fátima Lemes, said that “the project represents a strategic investment for the growth and responsible development of the region, focused on highlighting the natural wealth of the area. The initiative seeks to open the municipality to residents and visitors who wish to enjoy the natural environment around them.”
