Elite divers have joined the search for the missing man in Los Gigantes who was swept away by the tide from a natural pool in Puerto Santiago yesterday afternoon (Monday).
Divers from the GEAS (Grupo de Especialistas en Actividades Subacuáticas), a division of the Guardia Civil, are searching underwater assisting maritime rescue boats and helicopters still looking for clues or a body from the air and sea.
The missing man wasn’t the only one swept away yesterday as a 23-year-old woman was also dragged out to sea from the pool, but she was rescued and brought ashore by lifeguards before going to hospital to be treated for severe anxiety and cuts and abrasions from the rocks.
There are active warnings and red flags on many beaches and bathing areas at the moment for adverse sea conditions, and the longer the search goes on, the less chance there is of finding the missing man alive.
