A car is retrieved that fell into the water at Playa San Juan port

The emergency services had their work cut out yesterday morning (Wednesday) to retrieve a car that fell into the sea in the port of Playa San Juan in the south of Tenerife.

Although there was no official explanation of what happened for it to get there, the most logical assumption is that it was caused due to the driver forgetting to apply the handbrake.

However, since the incident happened, the owner of the car, who claims that he has three witnesses to endorse his version of the event, said: “The vehicle's handbrake was disconnected for a split second, perhaps due to some electrical problem that the expert who will be in charge of the claim reports to Toyota will look for. The car was parked on the ramp while we were releasing our boat from its trailer into the water, and no one was in the car at that time.”

Whatever happened, the car in question, a 2023 Toyota Yaris Cross was brought back onto land thanks to the expertise of the operators and returned to the safety of the dock, all be it, a bit wet!
