Man Arrested for Car Theft and Robbing a Medical Centre in Tenerife

The National Police have arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of committing several offences, including robbing from and stealing cars, and theft from a medical centre in Tenerife.

According to a police statement, the suspect had no known fixed address and lived on the streets, constantly moving locations, which made his apprehension particularly challenging.

Police have been carrying out a targeted operation since February this year, aimed at tackling a series of break-ins across different neighbourhoods of Tenerife’s capital. During the course of the investigation, officers were able to identify clear patterns in the crimes. Notably, the suspect consistently employed the same method, breaking the windows of vehicles to gain access.

Through detailed analytical work, investigators successfully narrowed down and located the individual, concluding that he was responsible for a spate of crimes. The man has been arrested for allegedly committing seven robberies involving forceful entry into vehicles and two incidents of theft, one of which occurred at a local medical centre. In that instance, he allegedly stole handbags and mobile phones while distracting staff under the pretext of receiving medical attention.

Following his arrest, the suspect was brought before the competent Judicial Authority in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which ordered his immediate remand into custody.
