Woman arrested with fake passport at Tenerife South Airport

The National Police have arrested a woman at Tenerife South-Reina Sofía Airport for an alleged crime of document forgery. The woman, who had travelled from Iran with a stopover in Milan and was en route to her final destination in London-Gatwick, was stopped by border control agents while attempting to board her last flight.

She was found trying to leave the country using a fake Slovak passport, likely hoping to blend in with the large number of tourists traveling during the summer season.

Upon inspecting the document, agents detected it was a forgery, which the woman voluntarily admitted, revealing her true nationality (Iranian) but was unable to provide valid identification, as she did not have it with her.

As a result, the agents arrested her and processed the necessary paperwork at the airport police station. An administrative expulsion file has been opened, and all actions taken have been forwarded to the competent judicial authority. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The Tenerife South Airport has seen a 20% increase in flights this summer, with passenger traffic just from non-EU countries, including the UK, exceeding 17,000 people per day. Due to this, the National Police conduct thorough border checks daily.
