The weather is acting strangely at the moment, and today will be no different. Yes, it’s more predictable in the sheltered southern tourist areas, where a bit of cloud and light wind aren’t affecting sunbathing times, but outside of this, there are active yellow and orange weather warnings, haze, and forecasts of temperatures up to 30°C.
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has warnings for winds and coastal phenomena across the Islands, with gusts up to 90 kilometres per hour in some areas. Fundamentally, La Palma, La Gomera, and Gran Canaria will be the most affected, while Tenerife, El Hierro, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura expect them up to 70 or 80 km/h.
Yesterday, when the warnings were, there were no noteworthy incidents to report, although the emergency services remain on pre-alert in case of any future developments.
Some municipalities, in the most exposed areas, were advised to cancel outside activities to prevent any type of accident because of the wind, as it can affect canopies, trees, and similar items.
Yesterday also saw the arrival of a light haze on the islands, which will continue at altitude, and dangerous sea conditions, so bathers should avoid going into the sea, especially in rocky areas or from beaches with red flags.
