A tragic accident yesterday, Monday, on the TF-64 road which connects Granadilla to El Médano, in the south of Tenerife, resulted in the death of one person and eight others being injured, according to the latest information provided by the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).
The incident, which has been officially classified as a "serious traffic accident," involved a bus and four other vehicles. After receiving an alert CECOES dispatched four SUC ambulances, a medical team from Primary Care, and the fire brigade to the location given.
When they got there, firefighters found several people were trapped inside the vehicles involved in the accident, and managed to successfully rescue them without causing any further injury to them.
Of the eight injured, four were passengers on the bus, while the other four were occupants of the cars involved in the crash. After initial assessment, all of them were taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment, with injuries ranging in severity.
No information has been released at this stage about the person tragically killed in the accident.
In addition to the emergency medical teams, the operation involved the Guardia Civil, the Tenerife Cabildo's highway maintenance department, and the Local Police. An investigation into the cause of the accident has been opened.
