VIDEO: The new fire in Tenerife is raised to a Level 2 emergency

The reactivation of the forest fire in the La Corujera area has led to the Tenerife wildfire being raised to Level 2, which means that the Cabildo hands over its management and resources to the Canary Islands Government for it to be dealt with.

This was announced last night by Rosa Dávila, President of the Tenerife Cabildo, who also stated that they have "activated the intervention of the Guardia Civil for the evacuation of the remaining individuals in the evacuation zone."

Up until this point, the General Directorate of Emergencies has activated personnel and two helicopters Forest Fire Intervention and Reinforcement Teams (EIRIF) based in La Palma, but now it has been elevated to level 2, personnel from the Military Emergencies Unit (UME) will be deployed on the ground.

Furthermore, four helicopters from the Ministry of Ecological Transition, including two with helitack crews from the Puntagorda Forest Fire Brigades (BRIF), affiliated with the Autonomous Community, and one helicopter from the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES), have joined the rest of the aerial and ground resources deployed by various municipalities, the Cabildo, and the central Government.

However, if necessary, additional resources that the Island Council may request could also be mobilized, as reported by the Government in a statement.
