The first measure is introduced to ease congestion on Tenerife’s roads

In a bid to ease congestion on motorways, the Tenerife Cabildo has introduced a measure that restricts the movement of rubbish trucks during specific hours of the day. This initiative aims to alleviate the traffic burden on TF-1 and TF-5, two of the busiest roads on the island.

The measure will eliminate a total of 60 trips per week of slow-moving vehicles on both roads between the critical hours of 5:30am and 10:30am, as this time frame, particularly after 7 o'clock in the morning, has the most pronounced congestion.

The restriction came into effect on the TF-5 motorway yesterday (Friday) and will begin on the TF-1 from Monday (September 4th).

The Councillor of Mobility for the Tenerife Cabildo, Eulalia García, assures that this restriction will not impact the quality of waste management services, but is the first of several measures that will be introduced to facilitate a gradual reduction in traffic, thereby enhancing mobility across the island.

This initiative is part of a broader plan by the Cabildo to address the traffic and mobility challenges faced by the island. It is expected that this restriction on rubbish truck movement will significantly contribute to reducing congestion on the busiest roads.
