The end of the use of masks in hospitals and pharmacies is delayed

The Minister of Health in Spain, José Miñones, warned yesterday (Monday) that the definitive end of the mandatory use of masks in hospitals, chemists and socio-health centres will be delayed as it won’t be dealt approved at today’s Council of Ministers, but will be approved “as soon as possible”.

He said yesterday: “We know that it will not be addressed tomorrow (Tuesday) in the Council of Ministers because it is not simply the issue of masks, but a whole health crisis decree which has to be informed and has to go through the corresponding administrative procedures”.

“The approval has been made by the Inter-territorial Health Council, which was the objective that we had as a first priority”, he added.

Miñones explained that he now planned to submit it to the Council of Ministers; “When we can, as soon as possible, so we can make the corresponding announcement of the date of withdrawal of mandatory masks, and of all the measures that were approved with this crisis decree”.

“It is very important to inform people correctly that the removal of masks is not currently authorised and they must still be worn”, he emphasised, adding that: “What we want is for their use to be highly recommended and for self-responsibility on the part of the public. For example, those who have symptoms should choose to wear a mask”.
