The Government will approve no more masks in hospitals and chemists today

It has been confirmed by the Ministry of Health that the Council of Ministers will approve the Royal Decree today (Tuesday) that ends the mandatory use of masks in medical centres, hospitals, pharmacies, and social health centres.

The Minister of Health, José Miñones, and the Government spokesperson, Isabel Rodríguez, will hold a press conference after the Council of Ministers meeting, where they will officially announce this approval by the Government and that it will be effective "the same day that it is published in the BOE", either tomorrow or Thursday.

This means that the mandatory use of masks will be withdrawn in all public and private places, and will only be maintained in areas such as operating theatres, Oncology departments, etc, or are worn by choice.

This measure is the final Covid restriction in existence in Spain, including the Canary Islands, and was voted to have it removed on June 23rd by the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System (CISNS).

It has been delayed until now as a new royal decree (law) has had to be drawn up to officially remove it for good.
