Tenerife hopes to add more Michelin Stars at next week’s gala

Tenerife is waiting with anticipation ahead of the Michelin Guide Spain 2025 awards ceremony, set to take place this coming Tuesday, November 26th, in Murcia.

Known for recognising excellence in the culinary world, the prestigious French guide currently credits Tenerife with eight stars, a significant marker of the island’s gastronomic prowess.

As the awards approach, the island is not only aiming to retain its current accolades but also hopeful of adding new stars to its tally. Speculation is rife, but Michelin’s tradition of secrecy ensures that all revelations will be made live at the gala.

Tenerife’s eight Michelin stars are distributed as follows:

  • El Rincón de Juan Carlos at Royal Hideaway Corales (Costa Adeje): Two stars

  • San Hô at Royal Hideaway Corales (Costa Adeje): One star
  • Taste 1973 at Villa Cortés (Las Americas): One star
  • Haydée by Víctor Suárez (La Orotava): One star

The awards ceremony will take place at the Víctor Villegas Auditorium and Congress Centre in Murcia, hosted by Ainhoa Arbizu.

Black Canarian Pig Gains Official Recognition as Native Breed

The Canarian black pig has officially been recognised as a native breed, granting it the right to use the "endemic breed" logo. This milestone was announced by Lope Afonso, Vice President of the Tenerife Cabildo, at El Helecho Farm in Arico, where efforts to recover the breed have been ongoing for over three decades.

Authorities are now calling for stricter oversight to prevent fraud in the restaurant sector, ensuring the authenticity of dishes marketed as featuring this unique pork.
