Driver hospitalised after his 50-ton lorry overturns in Gran Canaria
A driver has been taken to hospital after his 50-tonne lorry overturned late on Monday morning on a road in the municipality of Telde, Gran Canaria, according to reports from the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES).
Firefighters secured the truck to prevent further risk, while personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) treated the driver at the scene.
He was found to have multiple injuries, and was transferred by ambulance to Hospital Perpetuo Socorro where he was admitted for further treatment.
The accident occurred at around 11:00am on the GC-130 (Carretera de Los Picos). Local Police officers were mobilised to manage traffic and compile the necessary accident report.
Authorities have not yet released details on the cause of the overturning or the identity of the driver.
