A serious accident on the TF-51 road in La Camella in the south of Tenerife on Saturday afternoon has left a Local Police officer critically injured.
The incident happened when a vehicle unexpectedly pulled out of the access road to a horse riding stables into the path of a police motorbike, knocking him over.
According to the police union Asipal-csla ARONA, which shared the news on Facebook, the officer suffered significant injuries as a result of the collision and was rushed to La Candelaria Hospital in critical condition for urgent treatment.
The female driver of the vehicle, a white Volkswagen SUV, believed to be a long-term British resident, only suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
In a statement, the Local Police Union emphasised that this incident highlights the “high risks” officers face on the roads daily while performing their duties.
